Lore Van Keer

Hi everyone,

Because jewelry can make a girl forget about the gloomy weather, it would be sinful, absolutely sinful to not introduce you to another treasure found on my daily digital treasure hunt.
If you choose the paths of architecture, design and jewelry you will definitely arrive in the world of Lore Van Keer. Key words are technique, subtlety, refinement, femininity, balance and personality. You got it: a lot of words to describe pieces of art that could easily silence the biggest chatterboxes of this universe.
Digital travels off the beaten track are the most exciting, and you are bound to find the most extraordinary things. Every collection by Lore Van Keer feels exactly like this. Something unique. Something extraordinary. Something that when you see it, you know it is special.
It's a game of lines and shapes. It's beauty in simplicity. It's a no nonsense originality.
So, you could say my digital travels resulted in another daydream. A daydream in the beautiful world of Lore Van Keer and her amazing designs.

For the Ghent based peeps, you can find some Lore Van Keer pieces at Cooremetershuys (Graslei 12). Other Lore Van Keer hotspots to see her creations irl are Ravenna in Antwerp (Korte Gasthuisstraat 23), L'Amuzette in Knokke (Albertlaan 25), or her Lore Van Keer store in Wolvertem.

Royal toys

Hi everyone,

Royals always trigger curiosity: what do they wear, which red carpet events do they attend, which scandals are they involved in and so on. About a month ago, there was some Oranje Madness going on in the Netherlands when the new king and queen were celebrated. There are many ways to relive the day again. You could reread my blogpost, or those of other (mainly Dutch) bloggers. You could browse the archives of newspapers and magazines. You could look up the videos on Youtube. Or...

You could also borrow your little brother/ sister/ cousin/ niece/ nephew/ neighbor's toys and create your own inauguration. In a smaller size, that is.

Oh what a royal day it would be. The only thing missing - in my opinion - is rainbows and unicorns. *grin*

Strolling around town

Hi everyone,

Today is the first - and only - sunny day since quite a long time. So I grasped the opportunity for a walk around town. When my iPhone shuffled the Sidney Bechet song "Si tu vois ma mère", I closed my eyes and traveled to Paris, to le jardin des tuileries. Sun on my face, good music, no worries,... Just a little Paris and me. Heavenly.

And not unimportantly, in my daydream I was wearing something like this...

Have a happy sunny day full of beautiful daydreams!

P.S. If you want to read a bit about my Paris trips in the past...

Summer when it sizzles

Hi everyone,

Ever heard of the Merrymakers? A fashion blog by two Belgian girls who spot trends and discover brands in a very merry way. A while ago they introduced us to Reiss, a brand I had already discovered on one of my many wanderings through London while visiting my friend Lizzie. But! I hadn't virtually wandered through the Reiss world until then.

Now and then Reiss appears on my Facebook Feed and I must admit they always manage to tickle my curiosity with out of the ordinary yet wearable garments. And let that be one of my favorite adjectives.

The clothes have so much refinement, and yet look so sexy. Wearable on formal occasions, and adaptable to a more casual style too, I am also crazy about their jewelry pieces, shoes and bags.

Be ready to explore and discover yet another sizzling treasure!

Downton Abbey Pt. 2

Hi everyone,

As you will probably remember from previous posts I am a huge fan of Downton Abbey and even visited the castle recently (read here and here). Huge was my surprise and excitement when I read the news that a Downton Abbey Clothing Collection will be coming soon, inspired by the designs featured on the show. If all goes well 1928 Jewelry co. will be creating and selling a special Downton Abbey inspired collection, consisting of earrings, necklaces, brooches and hair pins.

But what can we expect? At least I hope: delicate lace, floaty midi skirts, high (empire) waists, embroidery and beadings, mary janes, faux fur collars, hats, vintage looking pieces of jewelry, silk and lace gloves...

To accompany the clothing line, a series of other products will be offered too, so Downton fans, like me, can fully live in the Grantham/ Crawley splendor. Think furniture, wall paper, beauty products, stationary,... Just imagine writing letters, having tea, reading books etc. all in Downton Abbey style. Those daydreams may be not that far out of reach! So let's have our fingers crossed the merchandising will not be for American fans only.

What's for sure, the roaring twenties are hot. I'm pretty sure you can be inspired by Downton Abbey in your local vintage or second hand shop. What's also sure, is that you'll need a lot of garments, because Downton girls are getting dressed all day long. No way they would be seen in the same dress for tea and supper!

Casper & Pearl

Hi everyone,

Browsing the net is like going on a treasure hunt. No borders. No limits. Surprises everywhere. And I'm pretty sure I found another treasure, hidden behind the name of Casper & Pearl. This fashion brand was founded by Stacey Hendrickson, an 18 year old autodidact, in 2011 in Adelaide, Australia.

Stacey makes beautiful vintage inspired garments. For this season's collection called "Secret Garden", the atmosphere is romantic, girly and innocent; Casper & Pearl's signature.

"This is a story about a free-spirited and youthful girl
who spends most of her time frolicking among her wild flowers.
The casper&pearl girl never really grew up, she never really wanted to.
The only thing that grew was her long braided hair and the flowers in her garden.
She danced and swayed to the sound of solitude in the floral walls that kept her."

I absolutely love the atmosphere the clothes and pictures reflect. The pastels and floral accents in the secret garden backdrop match perfectly; the model is like the secret flower in the secret garden. Every picture looks like it came right out of a daydream.

Only a shame the model has such a tiny legs it takes my attention away from the actual clothes...
